Next weekend, I'm doing the March for Babies! It's sponsored by the March of Dimes and is a great organization. Check out my page for more information!

I just ran a charity poker game (ok, so there's a few boys left still playing as i type) but it was great and I'm a little over 1/2 way to my goal! I have one week left and though I might get a little more money tonight from some of the boy's winnings, I still need some help getting to my goal.

I know money is tight for a lot of us, but if you could help out, that would be great!!!

Snoopy - Rock on!
Does anyone on my friends list live in Chicago or know the area?

My husband and I want to go to Chicago this summer and go to a White Sox game AND a Cubs game. Where should we stay and how should we get to the games? Advice?

Teachers' Salaries

Teachers' hefty salaries are driving up taxes, and they only work 9 or 10 months a year!

It's time we put things in perspective and pay them for what they do--baby sit!

We can get that for less than minimum wage. That's right. Let's give them $3.00 an hour and only the hours they worked, not any of that silly planning time.

That would be $19.50 a day (8:00 AM to 3:30 (or so) PM with just 25 min. off for lunch).

Each parent should pay $19.50 a day for these teachers to baby-sit their children.

NOW...

How many do they teach in a class, 30? So that's $19.50 x 30 = $585.00 a day. However, remember they only work 180 days a year!!! we're not going to pay them for any vacations.

LET'S SEE....

That's $585 x 180= $105,300 per year.

What about those special teachers and the ones with master's degrees?
Well, we could pay them minimum wage, and just to be fair, round it off to $7.00 an hour. That would be $7 x 6 1/2 hours x 30 children x 180 days = $245,700 per year.

Wait a minute--there's something wrong here!

Average teacher salary $50,000/180 days = $277/per day/30 students = $9.23/6.5 hours = $1.42 per hour per student. A very inexpensive baby-sitter and they even try - with your help - to EDUCATE your kids!

WHAT A DEAL....

And the parents don't even have to buy teachers pizza!

Baby - Huh?
First day of contracted work was today. Not bad. Just like sitting in my masters classes since we were just bombarded with information for the new teacher orientation. The first half of the day will be the same, but the last half of the day will be to work on my room.

Yeah...I'll need it since I found out TODAY that on THURSDAY, the parents and students will be meeting us and walking through our rooms. AKA inspecting, and analyzing me and it to death. *dies* NOT ENOUGH NOTICE!!!! At least I think that means that the Kindergarten teachers don't need to be there for Open House on the day before school since the parents have seen and met us already. At least....I hope.

Ahhh...got stuck watching Last Comic Standing. Haven't watched either of the two seasons, and now I'm up later than I should be watching it. Though, my cold medicine hasn't kicked in yet so my nose is still too stuffy to lay down. (Even though I took both Nyquil gelcaps and liquid Dimetapp). *rolls eyes*

Oh yeah. And tomorrow, after my time working and doing orientation stuff, I have a class at 4:15-6:15. It'll be every other Tuesday until November (5 classes). Then I'll see if I can handle it and I'll continue doing 10 more classes through the rest of the year. This will be for either clock-hours or even better, credit. This goes towards pay scale raises and such. However, taking it for credits costs money, but that's what you get your raises for the most, so it may be worth it.

Oh! Last Comic Standing's back on! *zips to the TV*
